Protect your sports hall floor...

All Continental floor protection products are endorsed by Junckers to protect Sports Hall floors

You have probably invested or are considering investing in a very expensive sports hall floor. If looked after, top quality sports hall floors should last a long time - especially the 22mm thick solid timber Junckers sprung floors installed by Continental. But you may have to use your sports hall for non-sporting events such as exams, assemblies, conferences or even social events such as fund raising discos or parent teacher evenings. You can help reduce the wear to the floor from these events (and the dreaded stiletto heels!) by making a relatively small investment in a floor protection product.

A small amount spent now to protect your floor could save a lot more in the future on remedial work to damaged floors, and at the same time, our jumbo carpet tiles provide a very attractive floor covering to make a social event feel less like a party in a sports hall and more like a true occasion.

We offer two solutions:

Jumbo carpet tiles

The ultimate solution to protect sports hall floors to enable them to be used safely for conferences, social events, meetings etc.

The flooring can also help improve the acoustics and deadens footsteps in the hall which is useful for plays, concerts and similar events.

Two people can convert your sports hall into what appears to be a fully carpeted room within an hour.

Available in twenty standard colours - please refer to the colour chart below, but if you cannot choose a colour from our standard range, please contact us as we may be able to specially dye a batch for your facility, to complement school colours for example.

Each carpet tile is 2m x 1m x 5mm thick. The carpet tiles are made from ultra-hard wearing ribbed polypropylene carpet bonded to a non-marking extra-heavy duty backing layer.

The tiles MUST be stored horizontally, so to achieve this, and to make it easy to set out the tiles and to take them up after use, we manufacture special heavy duty 2m x 1m horizontal trolleys and recommend that they are purchased with the tiles

What do we provide? - Assuming a standard 33m x 18m sports hall:

• Approximately 300 jumbo (2m x 1m) carpet tiles.

• Spare tiles. We recommend that a small quantity of spare tiles are purchased at the time of ordering, to allow for damaged, spoiled or lost tiles in the future (this guarantees you have matching tiles, and the price is discounted for quantity whereas replacing one or two tiles may prove to be costly in the future). Allow for 2.5% to 3% of the area for spare tiles.

• Supplied complete with two horizontal trolleys each 2m x 1m for storage and to facilitate laying out and removal - the carpet tiles must be stored horizontally.

Depending on the exact dimensions of your room, it is likely that you will need to trim the tiles on either one or two sides of the room to fit. This is a one-time-only operation that is easily done using a stanley knife (but please do not cut the tiles in-situ as you would risk damage to the floor). Those cut down tiles should then be set aside for use in the relevant locations each time the tiles are used.

Price for budget purposes only   £13 per square metre plus £291 for each horizontal trolley that is required

Please call for a bespoke quotation which will take into account our recommendation for spare tiles, number of trolleys required, overall size of your floor etc.

Carriage is charged at£18.50 on all orders below £400. Prices exclude VAT and are valid until 31 March 2009. All orders are accepted subject to our Terms & Conditions of Sale which are available here.

Minimum order quantity:

Please note that we have a minimum order quantity of 125 tiles per colour for manufacturing reasons. Therefore if your hall is less than 250 square metres, you can either purchase 125 tiles in the colour of your choice and have additional replacement / spare tiles, or we can let you know what other customer orders are being processed at the time of your order and we can combine the production of your tiles with their's. If you choose to combine your order, the colour will be limited to whatever the other orders are that we are processing at that time, and the lead time may be longer than usual.

Canvas druggets

The traditional sports hall floor protection method.

We only use the hardest wearing material for our druggets specially developed for floor coverings - natural flax canvas. This material is significantly harder wearing than the alternative of cotton canvas.

One standard colour is available - a neutral "Oatmeal" colour with a dirt resistant speckled appearance from the natural colour of the flax.

These druggets are ideal for protecting your sports hall floor during examinations or for assemblies.

Supplied in sections with selvedged edges and velcro edges to attach to the next section.

Each section is supplied in its own protective bag to enable easy storage.

For a standard 33m x 18m hall we can provide 5 pieces each 33m x 3.6m which weigh approximately 65kg each, or we can divide the hall in the other direction, giving more pieces but each piece would be 18m long. Please call to discuss the optimal layout for your facility.

For other shapes and sizes we can accommodate most requests. We recommend each piece should weigh between 50kg-65kg to be manageable by two people and we will recommend the best dimensions for each piece, taking account of the shape of your room and the above weight guidelines. Please contact us and we can advise on the optimal layout of your druggets. We ensure that the pieces are sufficiently manageable so that they are easily rolled into place by one person (although carrying the heavy pieces may best be done by two people).

When ordering, please let us know if you have any special requirements (e.g. maximum width of each piece, maximum weight of each piece, or if you want to be able to cover say exactly half the hall as well as the full hall etc.). There may be an additional charge if you require a significantly larger number of pieces than we would recommend.

Price for budget purposes only.
  £11 per square metre
Please call for a bespoke quotation which will take into account the number of pieces required, overall size of the hall, whether you have any recesses that require druggets as opposed to a simple rectangular room etc.

The above image shows a close up of the 100% natural, ultra hard wearing flax canvas which we use for Continental Sports druggets. The material we use is beige / neutral / green in colour which can best be described as "Oatmeal" with the expected variations and mottling which occur in such a natural material.
