Safety mat / "crash" mat
Ref. 290A safety mat for gymnastic landing activities
The mats have a combustion modified foam core. The cover is available in either wipe-clean PVC or a warmer to the touch cotton canvas. PVC covered mats feature a removable cover secured with a zip fastening and canvas covered mats feature velcro secured access seams to enable easy replacement of cover or foam inner.
If two safety mats are to be used adjacent to each other to create a landing area it is always recommended to use an agility mat on top of the landing area to ensure feet cannot go through the gap between the mats.
Please note that safety mats must not be dragged using the handles as this can damage the covers and handles. The mats should always be picked up using the handles and carried.
Safety mats are available in a wide range of sizes, dimensions, colours and cover types:
Sizes:
- 1.8m x 1.2m x 100mm (6' x 4' x 4")
- 1.8m x 1.2m x 200mm (6' x 4' x 8")
- 2.4m x 1.2m x 200mm (8' x 4' x 8")
- 2.4m x 1.4m x 200mm (6' x 4'6" x 8")
- 2.4m x 1.4m x 300mm (6' x 4'6" x 12")
- 3.0m x 1.5m x 300mm (10' x 5' x 12")
Cover:
- PVC - more durable and easy to clean
- Canvas - softer and warmer to the touch so recommended for barefoot gymnastics situations, but more easily stained
Base:
- PVC safety mats can have an anti-slip layer sewn into the base to provide additional slip resistance as an optional extra
Colours:

- Canvas - blue
If you are using two safety mats adjacent to each other in a landing situation you should always place a suitable length agility mat over the safety mats to prevent feet hitting the gap between the safety mats.
