Everybody's talking about Freestyle Gymnastics...

06/12/2011

Parkour, Free-running and other urban based activities have become increasingly popular with teenagers throughout the UK.  Originally practised outdoors with no coaching, training or direction, increasingly people have begun to practise the core gymnastics elements underlying these activities in gymnastics facilities indoors, and kids have sought out coaching in these new skills.

British Gymnastics has adopted an indoor-only coaching regime to provide the skills and training needed to undertake these activities safely, and methodically in a gymnastics training facility.  This activity is Freestyle Gymnastics.

Freestyle Gymnastics is an adaptation of existing gymnastic skills mixed with influences from the martial arts and street culture.  To deliver Freestyle Gymnastics, individuals need to be a minimum BG Level 2 coach and have attended a one-day BG Freestyle add-on module.  Freestyle Gymnastics is a recognised BG activity and is therefore covered by BG insurance when delivered in a BG recognised environment by a qualified BG Freestyle Gymnastics coach.

Freestyle Gymnastics has been developed to use existing gymnastics equipment found within British Gymnastics clubs, however Continental has found that clubs need a new range of specialist equipment to suit the particular rigours of this activity and to provide the challenges of Freestyle Gymnastics.  Continental is delighted therefore to have partnered with Cube Sports of Germany to provide Europe's leading Parkour / Freestyle Gymnastics equipment to clubs in the UK.

This range of modular kit allows you to grow your Freestyle Gymnastics classes over time, adding elements as the number of participants grows.  Great for additional classes and revenue streams, for information on our range of Parkour / Freestyle Gymnastics equipment, including Cubes, Walls, Stumps, Blocks and Accessories, please click here.
