Timber "Foldaway"

Manufactured from top quality pine, sealed, polished and with steel fittings, the Foldaway provides the opportunity required by the National Curriculum for a variety of activities - hanging, balancing, turning upside-down etc.

The 3 gate frame, which can be fixed in a "Y" or "T" position, comes complete with 2 stabilising ladders. The frames are 2.4m high (please call to discuss if you require higher frames). The frames folds flat against the wall requiring only 2.3m of wall space, and no special door access is required.

Over 20 gate designs are available, with four of the most popular illustrated to the right and links to pdf documents showing the complete range below right.

The illustration above to the right shows Pattern U Rings as the maingate with Pattern U Knotted rope and Pattern S as the other two gates.

The frame has a single wall pivot which can be arranged to span windows and radiators if necessary. Strong shoot bolts secure the frame and no overhead cable is necessary. As the fixings require our installation engineers to drill into the floor, provision must be made in advance if underfloor heating is installed.

Cantilevered beam units
(traditionally known as "Single/double beams")

Manufactured to BS1892 / 1972. Either wall hinged or roof fixed depending on site requirements. Heights are:

Keystage 3 - 3.0m (10') & 3.6m (12')
Keystage 4 - 4.2m (14') & 4.8m (16')

Wall hinged timber climbing frames

A top quality wall hinged climbing frame manufactured to BS1892 / 1972.

A versatile and space saving frame with 20 gate options. These frames can be supplied as a single gate or in multiples which can be linked with 3m beams and ladders. Typically provided in singles, pairs or triples which operate simultaneously, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

The illustration to the top right shows a pair of frames - gates B & R - designed to operate simultaneously as a pair, complete with ref. 395 bridging ladder and ref. 398 balance beam.

Each gate stores flat against the wall requiring only 3m of wall space. If space is at a premium, two gates can be arranged to fold onto each other, still requiring only 3m of wall space in total. Windows and radiators can be spanned without difficulty.

The illustration to the middle right shows two frames - D and R - and a cantilevered beam unit installed to operate as a triple frame group.

The frame is secured by an overhead cable, tension clamp locking device and shoot bolts into the floor.

Frames are available with your choice of either oval timber rails, or with epoxy powder coated 32mm diameter steel tube horizontal rails.

Wall bars

Traditional timber wall bars manufactured to BS1892 / 1972. Supplied in single or multiple bay units, 2.7m high with 18 horizontal rails in either standard or "hygienic" arrangement - i.e. lifted off the floor.

Usually installed by Continental installation engineers, but can be supplied on a supply only basis with installation instructions.

Tension clamp padded cover

Available for all wall hinged equipment that requires an overhead tensioning cable, this padded safety cover for the wall mounted tension clamp provides additional protection for users of the apparatus and undertaking other activities in the gymnasium both when the equipment is being used, and when the equipment is stored against the wall.

Tension clamp covers can be installed at the same time as the hinged frame, or they can be retro-fitted at a later date. Covers supplied at a later date are straightforward for self-install, or can be installed by Continental engineers.

Ref:397 - 7' (2.1m) double pole with hooks at both ends. Available in steel or aluminium.
